Well, may be you are right. People in Chinatown plays the Chinese chess on a board like this. The game has the same characters as Western chess - knight, pawn, king etc; no queen. The chess pieces are flat, unlike western chess. I did wonder whether they wee playing GO, but the shape of the pieces would be different.
Anyway, I see Chinese chess played here often. You do look carefully.

Nice shades of gray. I think we have a similar type of adjustable mechanism in one of our airports. On a good sunny day, you could spend a day photographing.
