Temperature was not a problem. The camera I used was my father's Contax -- believe it was 1952 model. Absolutely superb machine. Unfortunately, some nasty person whom I befriended some years later stole it from me. I miss that camera and all its memories to this day. ............ Lilia
Thank you for posting as it brings back wonderful memories of climbing Anapurna in my youth. I look at your photo and remember the thrill and exhilaration, crossing on wooden boards between 2 mountains with a huge drop down looking at icy rivers below. The comraderie of our group holding their breath as we crossed step by step. 25,000 to 26,000 feet high. We all held our breath watching our newly acquainted friends, exhilarated, praying, hoping that all would be successful. Thank G-d it was. What had been strangers a few days before became best friends. I still relish the experience as one of the best ever! Kind regards comrades...........Lilia
This image was sitting in the post-processing que for the last two years - but when I dusted the file off I was reminded of the "special" natural of the summicron lenses- hard to explain really but there is something about the way it draws light when you imaging large heroic subject matter -
Yes it was working perfectly in -20c battery life was a bit shorter but no problems with shutter or iris sticking - worked smoothly. I only wish my hands and feet did as well at that altitude and cold
Thank you, tclair. Like many, I am snapping these pics as a post-retirement pastime. Spotting them, snapping them is half the fun. But, nonetheless, I am glad you like it.
The A7R, with the 50 lux, captured fine detail in B&W. In the end, after some hesitation, I chose the colour version for its muted colour range. When it is muted, it looks monochromatic enough. Thank you.
Thank you. I was debating whether to focus on the front leaves or the yellow leaves. The 50 Lux has shallow depth-of-field at this distance, wide open. I decided to focus on the front and let the rest support it, somewhat.
Thank you. Shot with my 75 Summicron at f2. I was caught by the repeating light/shade and pattern. The lens has a narrow depth-of-view. Compounded by ISO 800, I was roughing the shot. I am not sure it was wise, but I was merely trying to emphasise the pattern rather than the texture.
Thank you, Sol. This is a popular restaurant, often full, well-known for its food. I was smiling when I saw the window into their unglamorous backroom work - their kitchen, to be displayed alongside their large shop logo. I am glad you liked this.
Juan, thank you very much for dedicating this work ... and for lending me your photographic equipment from time to time!! :-)
Gracias por dedicarme este trabajo y por prestarme tan amablemente tu equipo fotográfico (sé que no te gusta nada que te de las gracias, pero debo hacerlo) :-)
