Mammatus, also known as mammatocumulus (meaning "mammary cloud"), is a meteorological term applied to a cellular pattern of pouches hanging underneath the base of a cloud.

Thank you for the explanation regarding the red cast in your image. Having spent much time in Utah photographing the rock formations I can understand how light and photographic license comes into play when processing images from this region. I've found myself converting many images to b&w to avoid the color problem.
