I was focusing on the wider chair when I noticed the texture of the top; focusing on that alone made a different pic. I like that. Thank you.

B&W works very well with this image. It brings out the strength of the existing light and gives the rock more definition.

Robert, Thank you for the explanation regarding the red cast in your image. Having spent much time in Utah photographing the rock formations I can understand how light and photographic license comes into play when processing images from this region. I've found myself converting many images to b&w to avoid the color problem.

Bill, Thank you very much for your kind comment and question. The red saturation is actually pulled back to -73 in the light room file (LR 6.5); Purple = -14; and Magenta = -12...all others are set to zero. Overall saturation is set to zero as well. It may have something to do with the compression to get it to 5 mb. Having shot this canyon many times over the years, I can say the light is always different and results vary. As you get further back where there is less direct overhead light entering (where this was shot) the images tend to take on more magenta / red cast. When and where direct light enters the rocks usually produce a strong orange glow. I actually only shot with the D-Lux 109 to see how it would handle the low light, and I thought it did so with aplomb. However, the images that were most faithfully rendered are the ones shot with my Nikon Df. But comparing the two tools is an apples and oranges exercise. Again, I sincerely appreciate the comment and constructive feedback. Best regards, Robert

Very nice image but why the red over saturation? It's not necessary.

Thank you. Singapore used to frown upon touts. Not any more. They sell mostly their charm and persuasiveness. Their out-stretched arms draw a circle of exclusion.
