Lilia - It is indeed an interesting bridge - whether its viewed close up or from far away. It was designed by Ralph Modjeski, who is also credited as the Chief Engineer for the the Manhattan and Oakland Bay bridge - not sure about the Queensboro bridge but there could easily have been adaptation or borrowing of engineering style as Modjeski is thought of as one of the leading early 20th century bridge designers in the US. I am starting to look more closely at bridge construction and detail thanks to this site!!
Great perspective!
Think the same designers/architects who built the Manhattan & Queensboro bridges (in NYC), also did this one. Having walked over both got "up close and personal" views.
