Thank you for your perceptive comments. At 5am, people in Chinatown walks at a brisk pace; they are likely going to work. The streets are not yet awake, not yet adorned; they will be at work when the streets are ready to receive customers. I know I was pushing the M9 but it seems to respond well.
Although certainly pushing the limits of the M9, @2500, I quite like the combination of the 'grain' and the somewhat noir feel of this image. For me, the light conveys a small sense of hope and leaves me wondering who the people in the image are, where are they going, and what is their story.
BTW. I can't help but remember a memorable line from a movie called "Paper Moon". Tatum O'Neil said "We made it, didn't we?" The movie was about surviving in the 1930s.
The pic was shot with my 35mm f2 - at ISO2500, 1/125 sec. f2 in rather low-light condition.
May be, I could have used 1/60 sec. Would that have been better? Yes. I agree - I was pushing my M9.
